Bringing traffic management strategies to road users

Routing systems as communicators of public strategies

Mobile navigation info in the car or from the mobile phone is an everyday support for our routing in road traffic. A variety of factors influence the paths which are finally recommended. But do these generated routes also comply with existing strategies in traffic management? And how can public strategies for traffic find their way into routing and navigation systems? PRISMA solutions Deutschland GmbH was able to take on this challenge as part of the “Urban Transport Research Program” of the German Federal Highway Research Institute.

Together with the city of Stuttgart, TCP International and AlbrechtConsult, supported by well-known partners such as Siemens, PTV, HERE, the MDM Usergroup and OCA.eV, we were recently able to complete a project that creates a suitable communication base with the so-called "City2Navigation" service . This tailor-made software solution now provides a framework for cooperation between public traffic management and private navigation and routing providers, so that the given existing road capacities are optimally used. In addition to technical standards generated, also suggestions exist for a rapid and comprehensive implementation of the City2Navigation service throughout Germany.

We are pleased that we were able to contribute to this project by promoting cooperation between public traffic management and providers of navigation and routing services!
