Citizen participation in a new way

Stuttgart collects traffic data with the help of the population

As part of the "Digital Traffic Flow Optimization" (DVFO) project, PRISMA supports the Integrated Traffic Control Center (IVLZ) Stuttgart in expanding municipal traffic management to include an environmentally sensitive aspect. A PRISMA planning tool is used for environmentally sensitive strategic planning, which - based on TRAFF-X® - offers an innovative solution for intelligent traffic management for the state capital of Stuttgart.

For the first time, intelligently combined data will show the interdependencies of climate/weather, traffic, driving behavior and road safety. With this additional knowledge, the Integrated Traffic Control Center (IVLZ) will be able to develop tailor-made strategies that influence the current traffic conditions.

A wide range of data is used for this: in addition to floating car data, data from the municipal traffic measuring points and from traffic lights as well as data on construction sites and traffic disruptions are used, but also - in order to represent the reality of traffic in the Stuttgart road network as well as possible - data from a reference fleet.

The city of Stuttgart is currently looking for 500 voluntary reference vehicles for this task, which - in addition to simulation data - will provide real data on the traffic situation in the period from March to August 2023.

Would you also like to make a contribution towards the digital optimization of traffic flow - and do you regularly drive a motorized vehicle in the Stuttgart area? Then register here to be included in the reference fleet:https://www.stuttgart.de/verkehrsfluss-optimieren

The DVFO project is funded by the Bundesministerium für Digitales und Verkehr.
